Clinical Physiopathology Department (DFC) is a multidisciplinary dept . Core disciplines strongly represented in DFC include:

  • Andrology
  • Clinical Biochemistry
  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Medical Genetics
  • Medical Physics
  • Microbiology
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Nephrology
  • Radiobiology
  • Radiodiagnostics
  • Radiotherapy
  • Surgery.

DFC can rely on a comprehensive array of expertise and laboratory facilities in the preclinical and clinical field of medical sciences.

The Medical Physics unit of DFC is an interdisciplinary group formed by of Physicists and Biologists, who have been working together for many years. The group has experience in the development of laser systems and optoelectronic devices for biomedical applications, in applied spectroscopy related to the photo-chemistry and photo-physics of organic pigments, in the study of interactions between light and biological tissues, with a focus also on phototherapies with or without photosensitizers, and on photothermal therapies. Recently, a joint laboratory of DFC and ASA srl, an industry of biomedical laser was instituted to study the effect of physical stimuli (mechanical and photo mechanical stimuli, etc). Moreover the Medical Physics unit will rely on competencies developed over more than ten years in the field of imaging and autofluorescence microspectroscopy of cell and tissues samples.
