The Italian National Research Council (CNR) is a public organization of primary relevance in S&T research in Italy. It consists of 108 institutes spread all over the national territory. Its primary function is to carry on advanced basic and applied R&D in many scientific fields (with interdisciplinary vocation), and to take part in the strategic fields defined by the national planning system.
