Software for modeling and data analysis

Software for modeling and data analysis is concerned with supporting the development and adaptation of software for preprocessing and processing of data collected by Biophotonic tools. This software must be able to filter the part of the recorded data that is either unwanted or unnecessary and extract and decipher the information containing part.
Highly-sophisticated software is needed, e.g. due to the immense increase of data while moving from conventional 2D-microscopy to time resolved 3D-spectroscopy and especially because the information that is handled is usually of vital interest. Therefore Photonics4Life aims at collecting information about existing software packages and their evaluation and benchmarking. Besides identifying superior algorithms also concepts for the adaptation of algorithms/methods successfully employed in related scientific areas (e.g. for pattern recognition) will be a subject for the network.

Round Robin Experiment

Raman spectroscopy has already proved its effectiveness in many cases for medical diagnostics such as for cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections. However, there are no standards in the different working groups, e.g. for sample preparation, implementation of the Raman experiments, spectra pre-treatment, data evaluation, etc.In a round robin experiment, the required groundwork will take place in order to define standardised Raman measurement methods, which will be fundamental for establishing Raman spectroscopy for clinical diagnostic procedures.
