New Issue of the Journal of Biophotonics now available online

The September Issue of the Journal of Biophotonics can now be viewed online. The special issue is focused on research in advanced cytometry and application areas with particular emphasis on novel biophotonic methods, disease diagnosis, and monitoring of disease treatment at single-cell level in stationary and flow conditions. Guest Editors are Valery V. Tuchin from Photonics4Life, Attila Tárnok and Vladimir P. Zharov.

Featured articles deal with topics like Doppler OCT imaging of cytoplasm shuttle flow in Physarum polycephalum or In vivo fiber-based multicolor photoacoustic detection and photothermal purging of metastasis in sentinel lymph nodes targeted by nanoparticles.
The printed issue 8-9 will be available on September 21st.

Round Robin Experiment

Raman spectroscopy has already proved its effectiveness in many cases for medical diagnostics such as for cancer, cardiovascular diseases and infections. However, there are no standards in the different working groups, e.g. for sample preparation, implementation of the Raman experiments, spectra pre-treatment, data evaluation, etc.In a round robin experiment, the required groundwork will take place in order to define standardised Raman measurement methods, which will be fundamental for establishing Raman spectroscopy for clinical diagnostic procedures.
